World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses like PvE damage and crit chance.
If the template for upgrading a weapon is %, it will be able to gain 3% of its previous damage for every time it is upgraded.
The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the item's current level. The cost increases with the item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into armor, weapons, and trinkets in order to provide a stat bonus or extra effect while they're in use. They can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors trading or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by specific cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment with a slot for them. The item must have been at the very least upgraded to blue level to allow a component to be used. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and enrichments are a particular kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment as well as the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging ascended gear or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it's applied to (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, which lets players create stronger versions with the smallest amount of Upgrade crystals than they would need to reach the same level using normal methods.
A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defence attributes of the weapon or armor. These upgrades are available to be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed mechanic. These upgrades can be purchased by purchasing them in the cash shop, or by getting them from enemies while upgrading other gear.
The player can have the maximum of five boost upgrades at one time; each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-level version of the item will drop in the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue upgrading their gear even if they're uncertain of how much they'll increase after a future reset.
If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process may be costly, and there is a significant risk that the item may become obsolete or even break if it fails; a failed upgrade will ruin the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the risk of failure. Some upgrades also offer the player a bonus if they are they are reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs boost the effectiveness of all nodes in their radius as well as existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We suggest upgrading them as soon as possible to level 15.
In the final game you'll often discover that the best way to enhance your gear is by placing Glyphs. These are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded to level 15 and provide an enormous boost to your power on the Paragon Board.
Glyphs, the only upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and replaced with no restrictions are the most commonly used. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires the use of a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and re-place.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.
There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use, and through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you will require them to be placed on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus that will boost a specific set of stat nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. It could be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats, based on the Glyph.
Using a Glyph will boost all the nodes connected to it, so you should aim to place your Glyphs close to key nodes on the Graph to maximize the impact. Druids, for instance, should place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may also want to consider placing them near their primary damage nodes.
Leveling
The upgrade system for items allows players to boost the stats of specific items by adding upgraded components. This is referred to as "upping". Every upgradeable item has a level that determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each item level requires a different number of components to be reached and the costs for upgrading increase as the item is upgraded.
Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab of crafting tables. Each Upgrade Recipe completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to level up the item. Once enough points are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and any additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When the player upgrades a piece of equipment, the base item will be replaced with an item that is new. The same armor will receive an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item comes with its own bonus. This can be a downside, as the item can be more expensive even if you do not need it.
The upgrades to items can be rerolled, provided that the player has enough reroll tokens in order to do so. The item will be replaced by a brand new one that has a level 1 basis and completely different bonuses. This can be useful for some items, but it shouldn't be performed frequently, since it could waste lots of resources.
Some upgrades can be rerolled many times which increases their value and giving players the ability to alter their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, since it grants buffs when the player is repeatedly in or exits the water. The item can be upgraded many times and increases the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is highly important in PvP. A well-rolled version could be worth up to 50x the value of a non-upgraded counterpart.
Requirements
The upgrade of items allows players to boost the quality of their equippable equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate items and currencies to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase the defense base of the item, and upgrading weapon items will increase the damage base and the strength and dexterity required to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.
Each item can be upgraded a maximum of five times, except for hero gear, which can have eight upgrades. Each each time you upgrade an item it is given a chance to fail--the rate of failure increases as you exceed the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures will cause the item to return to its initial state which means that the player has to spend additional resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.
If an item is not upgraded the experience bar in its growth bar will reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it earned, such as crit chance damage to attack, other effects (such as increased heal over time, or reloading speed). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.
When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that, should a weapon gain an increase in crit chance it will be applied prior to any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots is now added to the item's definition and the value is computed each time an upgrade is made.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item are based on its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for example, a common equipment item might have 5 upgrades with a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items will come with a much lower cost for each upgrade.
Premium items could have different upgrade requirements than standard gear. For instance they might require less sowels, but they will require more minerals and orons. However, players will have to visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs listed above, each upgrade will require an individual amount of ingredients needed to upgrade.
